What are auricles in the human heart and what are their functions?

The auricles are the upper chambers of the human heart. There are two auricles:
a. Right auricle
b. Left auricle
Each auricle plays an important role in helping the heart receive blood.
Functions of the Auricles:
a. Right Auricle (also called Right Atrium)
1. It receives blood without oxygen (oxygen-poor blood) from all parts of the body.
2. This blood has already given oxygen to body organs and is now carrying waste like carbon dioxide.
3. The right auricle then sends this blood to the right ventricle, which pumps it to the lungs to get oxygen.
b. Left Auricle (also called Left Atrium)
1. It receives blood with oxygen (oxygen-rich blood) from the lungs.
2. This blood is fresh and ready to be sent to the rest of the body.
3. The left auricle passes this blood to the left ventricle, which then pumps it out to the whole body.
