The Modified Equatorial climatic region has weather that is similar to the equatorial region but with some differences because it is found in higher areas like plateaus and hills.
Here are its main characteristics:
1. It receives high rainfall
- The region still gets a lot of rain, but less than the true equatorial region.
- Rainfall usually ranges between 1,000 mm to 2,000 mm per year.
2. It has high humidity
- The air is still moist, but it is less humid than the lowland equatorial areas because of the cooler temperatures.
3. It has two main seasons: wet and dry
- Unlike the equatorial region which has rain all year, this region has a rainy season and a dry season.
- This makes it easier for farmers to plant during the rainy season and harvest later.
4. Temperatures are warm but cooler than equatorial areas
- Daytime temperatures are usually between 20°C and 27°C because of the higher altitude.
