How was the Rift Valley formed?

The Rift Valley was formed through a process called faulting and sinking.
How faulting creates a rift valley;
1. The Earth's crust has cracks or faults caused by pressure from deep inside the Earth.
2. When the pressure causes the land between two faults to sink, it forms a long, deep valley.
3. This sunken land between two raised blocks is what we call a rift valley.
NB
The largest rift valley is called the Great Rift Valley.
It stretches from the Middle East, through Eastern Africa, down to Mozambique.
In Kenya, the Great Rift Valley passes through places like Naivasha, Nakuru, and Baringo.
